ATHLETICS
A small school doesn't have to mean giving up competitive sports.
Through a partnership with Great Hearts Roosevelt Prep Academy, Dawn Treader Academy students have the opportunity to participate in established middle and high school athletic programs competing in the Canyon Athletic Association.
Athletics can be an important part of a student's education--developing discipline, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and the ability to pursue excellence alongside others. Our partnership allows DTA students to pursue those opportunities while remaining part of our small academic community.
How It Works
Dawn Treader Academy does not currently field its own interscholastic teams. Instead, eligible DTA students may participate in athletics at Great Hearts Roosevelt Prep Academy through our athletic partnership.
Students who participate become part of Roosevelt's teams for practices and competition while remaining enrolled at Dawn Treader Academy for their academic program. Sports are offered seasonally, and participation depends on team availability, eligibility, tryouts where applicable, and the requirements of Roosevelt Prep and the Canyon Athletic Association.
Athletic Opportunities
Through our partnership with Great Hearts Roosevelt, Dawn Treader Academy students have the opportunity to try out for the following sports through the Canyon Athletic Association. Specific teams and offerings may vary by season based on Roosevelt Prep's enrollment and participation.
Middle School
Fall: Flag Football, Girls Volleyball, Cross Country, Golf
Winter: Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Cheer, Chess
Spring: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Track & Field
High School
Fall: Boys Soccer, Boys Flag Football, Girls Volleyball
Winter: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Cheer
Spring: Girls Soccer, Boys Volleyball, Track & Field
Eligibility & Sports Physicals
Students participating in athletics must meet applicable academic and athletic eligibilty requirements. A current sports physical completed on the official Canyon Athletic Association form is required before participating in practices or competition and is valid for 12 months.
Chess participants do not require a sports physical.

DTA student-athletes compete as members of Roosevelt Prep teams. Current schedules, results, and team information are available through Roosevelt Prep's athletic listings on Bound.
