Beliefs

Dawn Treader Academy is built on a firm foundation of biblical truth, and every family who joins us affirms two foundational documents: our Statement of Faith and our Family & Student Covenant. Together, they express what we believe and how we commit to living and learning together in Christian community.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)

​

We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. (John 10:33; Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35; Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:26; John 2:11; 1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9; John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4; Mark 16:19; Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11)

We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature; and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ, and that only by God's grace and through faith alone we are saved. (John 3:16–19, John 5:24; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8–9; Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:5)

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto resurrection of life, and the lost unto the resurrection of condemnation. (John 5:28–29)

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12–13, Galatians 3:26–28)

​

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19–20, Romans 8:13–14, Ephesians 4:30, Ephesians 5:18)

We believe that the term marriage has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God's command is that there be no sexual intimacy outside of or apart from marriage between a man and a woman. (Genesis 2:18–25; 1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2–5; Hebrews 13:4)

We believe that God wonderfully foreordained and immutably created each person as either male or female in conformity with their biological sex. These two distinct yet complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26–27)

We believe that God admonishes His people to assemble together regularly in a local church for worship, for participation in the ordinances, for evangelism, for edification through the Scriptures, and for mutual encouragement. (Hebrews 10:25)

This Statement of Faith is not exhaustive of all our beliefs. The Bible, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with absolute authority regarding the proper conduct of mankind and is the unchanging foundation for all belief and behavior.

Family & Student Covenant

At Dawn Treader Academy, education is a partnership — a shared calling between home, church, and school to raise children who know and love God, pursue truth, and grow in wisdom and character. Scripture calls parents to teach God's truth diligently to their children "when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up" (Deuteronomy 6:6–7). A Christian school exists to support that calling alongside the local church, never replace it.

This Covenant expresses the commitments we make to one another as we pursue a Christ-centered, classically-minded education. It is not merely a list of expectations; it is a shared promise to walk together in unity, charity, and truth for the good of each child entrusted to our care.

​

This Covenant reflects Dawn Treader Academy's founding year and will be reviewed and refined as the school grows.

DTA Commitments to Families

Dawn Treader Academy commits to:

​

  • Provide a classically-minded, Christ-centered education grounded in Scripture and academic excellence.

  • Shepherd the hearts of students through discipleship, chapel, Scripture memory, and daily biblical integration.

  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and nurturing environment.

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with parents.

  • Exercise discipline with grace, fairness, and biblical wisdom.

  • Partner with parents in the spiritual, academic, and social development of their children.

  • Model Christlike character in all interactions with students and families.

Family Commitments

As a Dawn Treader Academy family, we commit to:

​

  1. Maintain active involvement in a local, Bible-believing church.

  2. Pray regularly for DTA — its students, staff, and families.

  3. Support the school's Christ-centered, academically rigorous approach at home.

  4. Encourage our children's participation in chapel, Scripture memory, and other spiritual formation practices.

  5. Meet financial obligations on or before the date due and communicate promptly if difficulties arise.

  6. Trust the school's discretion in matters of discipline, grade placement, and classroom assignment.

  7. Attend parent functions — open houses, conferences, and information nights — as we are able.

  8. Resolve disagreements biblically and privately, following Matthew 18:15–17.

  9. Support and advance DTA spiritually, academically, physically, and financially as we are able.

  10. Strive, as a family, to model the character and convictions we are asking our children to embrace.

Student Commitments

As a student of Dawn Treader Academy, I will:

  1. Do my best in my schoolwork and behavior.

  2. Seek to know and follow God's Word in what I say and how I live.

  3. Treat teachers, staff, and classmates with honesty, kindness, and respect.

  4. Respect and cooperate with those in authority over me.

  5. Follow the school's dress code and classroom expectations.

  6. Remember that I represent Christ, my family, and DTA both at school and away from it.

  7. Take responsibility for my actions and choices.

Community Life & Conduct

DTA partners with families to raise children who reflect the character of Christ. As part of that partnership, families and students agree to conduct their lives — both on campus and off — in a manner consistent with DTA's Statement of Faith, including its convictions regarding marriage, gender, sexuality, and Christian morality.

DTA extends grace, compassion, and dignity to every family and student. At the same time, DTA reserves the right to make admission, enrollment, and disciplinary decisions, in its sole discretion, when a family's or student's conduct is in direct and sustained conflict with these biblical convictions.

Sanctity of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred, created in the image of God, and of immeasurable worth in every stage and condition — from conception through natural death, including the unborn, the aged, and the physically or mentally vulnerable (Psalm 139). We commit to defend, protect, and value all human life.

Facility Use Covenant 

(For Hosting Church)

Because Dawn Treader Academy operates within the facilities of First Southern Baptist Church of Buckeye, families agree to:

​

  • Respect all church property, equipment, and spaces.

  • Follow all church guidelines for building use, security, and cleanliness.

  • Ensure children do not enter unauthorized rooms or areas.

  • Support a spirit of unity between DTA and the hosting church.

​

DTA commits to steward the church's facilities with excellence, gratitude, and care.
